Postvention

Introduction

Postvention prepares organizations and businesses to responsibly manage a suicide loss in the workplace. In this lesson, you will watch a video that covers the foundational components of postvention that go into creating a postvention plan for your company. 

Recommendations

1. Establish a postvention team. Designate a postvention coordinator, a crisis response team, and determine who will develop policy around postvention. Establishing who will fill these roles within your company will assist in developing a solid postvention plan.
2. Develop a postvention plan for your workplace. Postvention plans help mitigate the impacts of suicide on your workplace by managing and containing the crisis, provide resources to employees to manage their grief and/or loss, and to reduce the risk of suicide contagion (more suicide attempts or deaths).
